Regarded as one of the pioneers of the Seattle grunge scene and the only solo singer/songwriter to feature on the seminal CD Sub Pop 200, the album that broke the grunge scene into the wider public. He has, I believe, now re-located to France and his albums are a lot more introspective than his earlier work but I guess maturity and confidence plays a large part in that.
