I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Ryan Adams. Some tunes really speak to me and I just love the musicianship, other songs just seem to be so much MOR blandness. This tune is a case in point. There's parts of it that wouldn't be out of place in a power rock album from the 80s but then he manages to drag it from bland conformity into something quite special. I need to give it a few more listens, I think.
A bit of pop trivia for you - he shares the same birthday with his very near namesake Bryan Adams: 5th November. Coincidence or what?
