Back to 2016 now with this laid back track from indie darlings Porches.

Ah, the Tender Prey album. It's a work of pure joy.

OMD were such a big part of my childhood. Still love them now.

the underground youth - 'a dirty piece of love for us to share'

Last track this evening in what has been a marathon music posting. Thanks for listening. This song from The Underground Youth's new album is an absolute belter.

ryan adams - 'haunted house'

I need to get hold of his new album and give it a good listen. This is the first track I've heard from it and it's very Springsteen-ish which isn't necessarily my go to artist but I do like Ryan Adams previous stuff so curious to know what the rest of the album sounds like.

hot ice - 'dancing free (john luongo mix)'

Strictly disco with this track.

blaise moore - 'friends'

The tunes keep coming thick and fast. Love this.

marcel dettman & ben klock - 'the tenant (original mix)'

old crow medicine show - 'down home girl'

It doesn't get much better than this.

yalta club - 'new day (fm4 acoustic session)'

Yalta Club are a relatively new discovery for me and I just wish I'd got into them sooner. So cool and the video is even a 360 rotating affair!

tim cohen - 'wall about a window'

There are so many great new albums out at the moment. Here's one that deserves all the plaudits, it's that damn good.

grails - 'after the funeral'

The new Grails album needs to be heard to be believed. Impossible to describe adequately, impossible not to love.

yves tumor - 'the feeling when you walk away'

I caught this tune on the latest Fabric compilation and boy, what a tune it is. Short but so sweet.

thievery corporation - 'let the chalice blaze'

The new Thievery Corporation album is a must-have for any music lover.

jens lekman - 'dandelion seed'

Jens Lekman's music is so subtle that if you're not careful you can easily miss his sharp humour. Great stuff.

One of my favourite bands around at the moment, here's another great track from Cherry Glazerr.

adrenalinoman - 'albanika (original mix)'

Let's get serious now with a superb dance-floor classic.

the actions - 'giddy up'

Jackie Mittoo at his very best here. Old school.

star parks - 'nobody comes here (and nobody leaves)'

It's a 2016 album but a completely new one to me and I'm quite smitten. What a tune.

nadine khouri - 'you got a fire'

The new album from Nadine Khouri impresses me more with every listen. This track is a blindingly good song.

Forget every preconception you have of Appalachian musicians. Tall Tall Trees have released a superb genre breaking album. Check this out.

holly throsby - 'what do you say? feat. mark kozelek'

I'm greatly enjoying listening to Holly Throsby's new album and an added bonus to hear Mark Kozelek on there too.

15 February 2017

a. spencer - 'a secret spell'

Thanks to Bandcamp for highlighting this new EP from the artist better known as Fulton Lights.

And now I'm going to settle down with a good book whilst listening to this brilliant minimal techno set from Marfu.

lou barlow - 'redeemed'

A new one from Lou Barlow here.

c.a.r. - 'strange ways'

I haven't listened to C.A.R. in so long that I'd forgotten just how good she is. Glad to see that there's a new EP out too for me to enjoy.

ak - 'immortal'

Yet more soulful electronica.

How about some very soulful drum and bass?

As off the wall as it comes but Björk wouldn't have it any other way.

Swedish psychedelic rockers, Flowers Must Die, return with a great video to their new single.

irene scott - 'everyday worries'

Ah, some gorgeous soul.

william z villain - 'anybody gonna move (fd acoustic session)'

Seriously, if you aren't aboard the Faits Divers Sessions yet then you need to climb aboard. I've been a fan for a long time and with sessions like this how can you not?

radical face - 'eclippse'

No...that's not a spelling mistake. Radical Face aka Ben Cooper has deliberately misspelt all the titles in his new EP and I reckon this track is the best song of the lot.

stefko kruse feat b.k. - 'still loving you (phoenix cruze remix)'

Love, love, love this remix.

bliss ft ane brun - 'trust in your love'

I haven't heard this tune in years. It's so good.

If trippy beats are your thing then you need to wrap your ears around this tune.

This music blog was originally a vehicle for me to post minimal techno tunes, hence the name and although it's now developed into something completely different I still enjoy listening to minimal techno and so here's a cracking tune for you.

vermont - 'norderney'

I don't think there's a single Kompakt release that I haven't liked. This is just sublime from Vermont and is the first trackcfrom their new album.

chuck prophet - 'bad year for rock and roll'

Taken from his brand new album, this is just superb from Chuck Prophet.

old crow medicine show - 'alabama high-test'

mega bog - '192014'

I'm looking forward to picking up the new Mega Bog album from Rough Trade soon. It promises to be a good 'un.

tinariwen - 'sastanàqqàm'

Northern Mali music is far different from the Malian music you'd normally expect to hear. This is a very bluesy affair harking to Deep South USA far more than their Southern Mali counterparts. This is the first track from Tinariwen's new album 'Elwan'.

crushed stars - 'diminished returns'

There's something wonderfully understated about this track from Crushed Stars' upcoming new album.

the colorist and emiliana torrini - 'speed of dark'

The new Colorist and Emiliana Torrini collaboration gets better with every listen.

07 February 2017

cigarettes after sex - 'nothing's gonna hurt you baby'

I still regard this tune as one of DJ Shadow's finest moments.

lightnin' hopkins - 'i woke up this morning'

What a classic.

jakob ogawa - 'all your love'

Norwegian music prodigy Jakob Ogawa's debut single sees summery vibes overlaid with a languid style that makes for a great track.

mark ronson feat daniel merriweather - 'stop me'

I heard this track on Sunday in a pub by Clapham Junction as my mate and I took a detour on our way to watch Brighton versus Brentford on Sunday. And what a match that turned out to be. Great track too. I haven't heard it in years.

khidja - 'kraftfeld'

Fresh off the press, this is a very dark techno track from Khidja.

I can't wait for the new album's release. Really looking forward to it but fortunately they've released their second track from it and it's a barn-stormer.

john holt - 'strange things'

Taking this music blog back over 40 years, here's a superb track from the legendary John Holt.

homeshake - 'khmlwugh'

Taking the tempo down with this track, so laid back that it's positively horizontal. Great stuff from Homeshake here.

ron gallo - 'young lady you're scaring me'

Bloody hell, what a great tune! No messing, it's in your face and staying there. Brilliant stuff.

jens lekman - 'what's that perfume you wear?'

The new Jens Lekman album 'Life Will See you Now' is an absolute belter. The light and frothy pace belies the dark humour running throughout bringing back memories of The Beautiful South or Orange Juice.

amber arcades - 'it changes'

She's been touring with Nada Surf but has returned to the studio to record this track. It has a great garage-rock feel and bags of energy. Her name is one to watch.

cult of dom keller - 'all i need is not now'

I do like the bleak psychedlia that Nottingham band The Cult of Dom Keller purvey.

dj essdee - 'the mix of a dying man'

Working form home has its disadvantages but a big advantage is being able to play music loudly. This mix for example is awesome and needs to be played loudly.

This slice of country-folk comes from London via Liverpool and a lovely track it is too.

Fresh off the press here's the first track from the new album 'Snowdonia'. What a cracking tune.

03 February 2017

mumrunner - 'cascais'

I don't think I blog enough Finnish bands and I really should as there's some excellent music coming from Finland. Check this out.

great news - 'falling'

Here's a fantastic new song from Norwegian act Great News. It feels like I've heard this song for years, it's got a warm familiarity to it.

depeche mode - 'where's the revolution?'

I can't say that I'm particularly impressed with this the first track from their upcoming album 'Spirit'. It's a bit turgid and one-paced.

02 February 2017

aquilo - 'silhouette'

The jury's out for me on this track. Parts of it are quite beautiful but then other parts sound like identikit vocoder. Maybe I'll give it a bit more attention.

allison crutchfield - 'broad daylight'

I can't seem to get enough of her new album and so for twice in one week I'm going to post one of her tunes.

tourist - 'wait'

This is an oldie but goodie. It's almost trip-hop in it's composition.
