I wasn't a big fan of the new Depeche Mode track but Algiers may well have saved the day with this excellent remix that lifts the song from it's turgid pace into something very atmospheric and properly captures the 2017 zeitgeist.

I can't say that I'm particularly impressed with this the first track from their upcoming album 'Spirit'. It's a bit turgid and one-paced.

Tweet I meant to blog about this classic Depeche Mode tune yesterday but forgot...It's 17 years (and a day) since 'Useless' was released from the Ultra album. I've no idea where the time goes but it's scary to think how old these tunes are. Anyway, enough about my mortality and back to the music:

Where has the time gone? Here's a special video to coincide with the landmark - and look how young they all look. Ridiculously young. And I do like the message at the beginning from David Gahan "You don'r need to find anything from the music or lyrics, they could just enjoy it"

It's taken a few listens but I think I'm finally getting their latest album. It sounded a bit dirge-like on first listen but it's actually more rocky laced with a lot of humour. In places it reminds me of those very heavy electro goth/industrial sounds of :wumpscut: and Marilyn Manson and in other places a more classic Depeche Mode  sub-ballad feel. If you're struggling with the album I'd recommend sticking with it because it is well worth it and if you already love it then play it some more!

Depeche Mode are streaming the first track to be released from their upcoming new album 'Delta Machine'. They've pitched it somewhere between 'Violator' and 'Songs of Faith and Devotion' and promised remixes from Matthew Dear and Blawan. The deluxe album edition will also feature photos from uber-cool iconographer Anton Corbijn.

As a bonus I've also come across the B-side to this song called "All That's Mine". Welcome back Messrs Gahan, Gore and Fletcher.
