I've been feeling extremely low these past few weeks but music has been my sweet succour and I'm pleased to read that The XX have a new album out shortly and this the latest track from it to be released will be my first post on this blog for 2017.

I have just seen in Fact Mag that four tracks from the beautiful Coexist album have been given a remix makeover and are scheduled for release next month on an EP named 'HVNXX'. The full tracklisting is as follows:

It must be something in the water...or maybe I'm just taking more effort when listening to music but XX's 'Coexist' album has been the soundtrack to my daily commute for a few days now and I've discovered all sorts of things hidden away within the album that I missed when first listening. If I carry on like this with my re-appraisal of 'difficult' recent releases I might just be ready soon to tackle Scott Walker's 'Bish Bosch', an album that has so far remained impenetrable to me.

They've done it again, the new XX single is quite superb with understatement and the ideals of romance at the forefront. This is perfect music for my current mood. The new album, 'Coexist', is out next month and I think from what I've heard that it will make many top 100 lists this year.

I'm rather pleased that my 1000th blog entry is the XX's new single. I've always had a lot of time for this band. The new single is no great departure from their usual sound but it does slightly deeper and heavier. I do like the fact that they sing love songs. It's refreshing to think that even though they are as cool as you like, they don't regard themselves as too cool for that most basic of feelings.
