sigur rós - 'óveður'

We've waited a long time for this...a new Sigur Rós video. As barmy and beautiful as ever. The world is a better place with these chaps in it.

sigur rós - 'svefn-g-englar'

They were formed 20 years ago today and it's not too far-fetched to say that they are now one of the most influential bands still making music and even by Iceland's extremely high standards and prodigious talent they are musical giants in their home country and beyond. This is possibly my favourite track from possibly my favourite album.

sigur rós - 'brennisteinn'

The new album has been released and no doubt will be a big Summer smash. I'm not surprised with tracks like this frankly epic composition.

sigur rós - 'fjögur píanó'

And so to bed. This is brand new and exquisite. Worthy of their fellow countryman, Olafar Arnalds.

new sigur rós video

This is from their new album, the video to the track 'Ég anda'. I love the music but can't say I'm too impressed with the video, it tries too hard to be wacky. It's unnecessary because the music already provides the avant-garde. There's no need to go around putting these visual exclamation marks to the songs. The record is out next Monday. Let's hope the video doesn't detract too much from the tune.

sigur rós - 'ekki múkk'

This is hot off the press. Red-hot, in fact. It's called Ekki múkk and is from their new album 'Valtari'. It bears all the hallmarks of a Sigur Ros number - it's sublime, it's understated and each listen is opening up new things to discover. I've given it 4 or 5 goes already and it's been like a game of pass the parcel with each listen revealing a new prize.

sigur rós - inni

I am very excited about the release of Sigur Ros's live album Inni, out next month. There's lots of information about it here and you can pre-order the album from that link too. As a teaser they've released this wonderful video to promote the album. Are Sigur Rós the coolest band at present? They must run Flaming Lips a very close second.
