damien jurado - 'on the land blues'

Damien Jurado is a man who sets the bar high yet consistently rises above it to produce beautiful music.

damien jurado - 'qachina'

His new album Visions Of Us On The Land sees him changing styles yet again and this time it's far more cinematic in its feel. Take this track for instance, it could easily be the soundtrack to an achingly cool independent film. The man just gets better and better.

damien jurado - 'the loneliest place i've ever been (demo)'

Here's a little bonus for Jurado fans. He's uploaded a demo of a new song although quite roar and sparse still sounds fantastic.

damien jurado - 'silver donna'

There's some parts of this tune that remind me a lot of the Charlatans' 'Only One I Know'. Surprising that a Damien Jurado song should remind me of the Charlatans but he's certainly been crossing a few musical genres of late. More power to his elbow too!

damien jurado - 'silver timothy'

The new album is out at the beginning of January next year and this is the first release from it and it's certainly a step away from his more Americana sounding output of previously. This almost retro-psychedelic song has a definite West Coast influence and the chorus could have been lifted from the soundtrack to a 60s road trip movie. I like it a lot.

damien jurado - 'omaha'

I just love Damien Jurado's voice. So rich and evocative.

damien jurado - 'museum of flight'

Damien has one of the most distinctive voices in music and I've neglected to listen to him for quite some time. I was reminded after watching this odd video to accompany his latest single. I'm really not sure about this video at all. It just has a feeling of overriding naffness, which is a shame because I really like the song.

doe-eyed beauty

Sound the Sound is a wonderful music website that has a regular Doe Bay Sessions with guest songwriters often performing acoustic versions of their hits. Damien Jurado took it one better and penned this track especially for the session. Performed in the night air by candlelight and lyrics sung from a  recently scribed piece of paper, Jurado hits the perfect note with this performance.
