She's done it again. Vancouver's very lovely Angerbird has released two new albums on Bandcamp that are free for download or streaming. Here's the first one I've been listening to, it's called 'Suburban Mouse' (hence the title for this entry of my blog). As long as there are talented people like this lady in the world then I think we'll be fine.

That uber-talented Canadian, Angerbird has just released a new album, Titanium A Priori, on Bandcamp. I have no idea why but she refuses to take any money for her efforts and she's offered the album completely free as a download here. It's utter madness when you consider that HMV charge something like £12 for a CD of tired old bobbins from Razorlight. 

She's kept her signature lo-fi feel from the first album which keeps the intimacy and it has a very definite dream pop slant. There's some really catchy tunes in there that you will be humming for days afterwards. Just check out track 5, Bangers, for example. As with the first album, it's a 14 song affair with a fair few instrumentals. I'm not sure what my favourite is yet. Right now it's Mercenary GCF. Actually, they're all lovely. I'll take the lot.

I told you bandcamp was good, didn't I? Well, if you're still in doubt let me prove it to you. There's a new album out today from a band I'd never heard of before. They're from Canada, they're called Angerbird and the title is rather lovely - 'Vespa in the Sun'. 

 

It reminds me in part of the Primitives at their most reflective or the Cocteau Twins in their poppier days - or dare I say it, the kind of pop that Paisley and Charlie are doing right now. Does this mean we are going to see a return to the kind of clever, whimsical pop in the charts? Fingers crossed. 

Amazingly, the whole album is free too for download so there's no excuse for not giving it a try.
